Word for word vs native

Translating is not enough – French translation by a native speaker

Idioms, tone, rhythm: a literal translation gives itself away in one sentence. Pick an example and compare.

English

It's a no-brainer.

Word for word

C'est un sans-cerveau.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions – French translation

Are you a native French speaker?
Yes. I'm French, born and raised in France. Most of my work is translation into French, my native language; I also offer SEO translation from French into English, culturally adapted for an international English-speaking audience.
Which languages do you translate from?
From English, German and Dutch into French, and as SEO translation from French into English. My English and German are certified at C1 level.
Do you provide certified (sworn) translations?
No. I translate web, marketing, sales and technical content. For official documents such as certificates or court papers, you need a certified or sworn translator.
Can you work directly in our CMS?
Yes: WordPress, Shopify, Webflow or custom websites, or Word, Google Docs and Excel files, whichever you prefer.
Will my translated pages rank on Google in France?
For web pages, I start from the searches French customers actually type, then write titles, meta descriptions and headings around them. That is what SEO translation adds to a plain translation.
Do you adapt texts for Belgium or Switzerland?
Yes. By default, I write in French as used in France and adapt vocabulary, prices and references for French-speaking Belgium or Switzerland on request.
Can you also record a French voice-over?
Yes, for your videos: I am a French voice actor and have recorded voice-overs for Essilor, RaiseSens, UltraGrime, the Office Public de la Langue Basque and the Fédération CINOV.
Who proofreads the translations?
I do. I proofread and correct every text myself, in French, German, Dutch and English, then optimise it for SEO: the country's keywords, titles and meta tags.
Do you offer French document translation services?
Yes. My French translation service covers business documents: brochures, presentations, product sheets, reports, manuals and technical documentation, translated into French. For official documents that need a certified or sworn translation, such as birth certificates or diplomas, you need a certified translator, which I am not.
Is there a French translator near me?
You don't need one nearby: I work remotely with companies in Singapore, across Asia and in Europe. You send your files, I translate them into French, review every text myself and deliver ready-to-use documents. It is the same professional French translation, wherever you are, by a freelance French translator working directly for your company.
Do you also translate from French into English?
Most of my work is English to French translation, into my native language. I also translate business texts from French into English and review them myself, with the same care for tone and keywords.
How much does a professional French translation cost?
It depends on the length, the subject and the format. You receive a free, fixed quote before any work starts.
Do you work with Canadian companies?
Yes. I write in the French of France and adapt key terms for Quebec readers where it matters. If your audience is mainly in Quebec, I tell you which words and phrases need local wording.
Can one translation serve France, Belgium and Switzerland?
Largely, yes. The French is the same base, adapted where usage differs, for example in numbers, local terms or regulatory wording.
Do you translate from Chinese or Malay?
No. I translate from English, German and Dutch into French. For Chinese or Malay content, an English version is the best starting point.
